Aimee's guide to making your planner work for you (all year 'round!)
A planner is only useful when it becomes part of your system. To make sure you actually use your planner all year, i’s not about creating the perfect planner spread or filling in every page; it’s about having a reliable place to capture the many moving parts of teaching.
Here’s how I use my Base Planner:
Start big and work backwards.
Map your year, then your term, then your week and day. At the start of each term, add everything that’s already locked in: classes, duties, meetings, professional learning and key dates.
Make it part of your routine.
My planner lives on my desk and comes with me everywhere. Meeting? Planner. Class? Planner. Need to remember something? Planner. The more you use it, the more useful it becomes.
Use it alongside your digital systems.
Your planner doesn’t need to replace everything. I keep detailed curriculum mapping and resources online, while my Base Planner helps me manage my priorities, reminders, key dates and the everyday admin that can easily get lost.
The goal isn’t to plan every minute. It’s to create a system that helps you feel organised and prepared throughout the year.
FAQs
Will the term calendars align with my school's term dates?
Our A5 planner has fixed term calendar pages, rather than the moveable term tabs included in our A4 planner. The term calendars are placed before the following weeks based on these dates:
- Term 1: 18 January
- Term 2: 12 April
- Term 3: 12 July
- Term 4: 4 October
As school term dates vary across Australia, these may not exactly match your school’s dates. If your school’s term dates differ, you can simply use the calendar as a general reference and plan your specific dates within the weekly pages.
Is this planner suitable for all year levels and subjects?
Absolutely!
Our planners were crafted with the needs of high school teachers in mind, but their versatile design makes them equally suitable for primary school, early childhood educators or even university lecturers or private tutors.
Whether you're guiding students through complex subjects in high school, laying the foundation for lifelong learning in early childhood, or working one-on-one with students, our planner provides the organisational tools and flexibility to support your unique teaching journey at any year level.
Does this planner have weekends?
No, our planners do not include space specifically designated for planning the weekend.
We've made a deliberate decision to prioritise ample space for your to-do lists to help you stay organised and focused on your daily tasks throughout the week. Your feedback via our customer surveys also supports this decision.
However, we understand that some of you may still want to jot down weekend plans or notes. That's why we've included a blank space underneath the to-do list section, allowing for flexibility and customisation to suit your individual needs. This space provides the perfect opportunity to add any additional notes, reminders, or weekend plans as desired.
Are your planners sustainable?
Our planners are made with FSC-certified paper which ensures it's from responsibly managed forests that meet strict environmental, social, and economic standards.
We've also partnered with an ISO 14001-certified manufacturer, ensuring our products are made with environmentally responsible practices for a sustainable future.
Where are your products made?
Our products are proudly designed right here in Melbourne, however, to bring our vision to life, our products are manufactured in China. Despite our efforts to manufacture locally, our unique moveable term pages necessitated production overseas.
We have a close relationship with our wonderful manufacturer, and are proud to partner with such a professional and high-quality company.
Our manufacturer is ISO-certified, which means that it upholds rigorous quality standards and uses FSC-certified materials for sustainability.
We conduct quality checks from our headquarters in Australia. Plus, we stay closely involved in the manufacturing process to guarantee that every planner lives up to our high standards.
How many notes pages are there?
- 2 lined planning pages at the front of the planner
- 1 lined notes page after every week throughout the planner
- 6 note pages at the back of the planner
