Built for the way teachers actually work

Base Planners launched in 2024 with a simple mission: to create a planner for teachers like me. Teachers who care deeply about their work, want to do their best for their students, and know that having the right systems in place can make all the difference in a job with a million moving parts.

Frustrated by the lack of options that met my needs as a high school teacher, I set out to design a teacher planner that was practical, purposeful and genuinely useful. I wanted premium quality, ample space for planning and meetings, and a distinctive 'cool' factor that set it apart from traditional (ahem, ugly) teacher stationery. So, armed with a passion for teaching and learning and an eye for organisation and design, Base Planners by Aimee was born.

You probably expected to meet a whole team here, but for the most part, it’s just me. Hi! If we haven't met yet, I'm Aimee, the teacher behind Base.

I started my teaching career in my hometown of Adelaide twelve years ago, where I quickly fell in love with everything to do with teaching and learning. Since then, I’ve taught every year level from 7–12, been accredited as an AITSL-Certified Lead Teacher, and taken on a few different leadership roles. Right now, I’m teaching Year 11 and 12 English in Melbourne.

Like many teachers, I’ve always been someone who cares deeply about doing a good job and for years, like the millennial I am, I tried to manage everything digitally. I used apps, digital calendars, my school’s LMS, Word docs and (if I’m being honest) mostly my own brain to keep track of the many moving parts of school life. As my responsibilities grew and life got busier, I realised this wasn’t working. I needed a better system to stay organised in a profession that asks so much of us.

I picked up a hard copy planner to get back to basics and found it so helpful that I never looked back. There’s something so powerful about seeing my whole week at a glance, mapping out my time and priorities on the page, and having one place to capture everything. A teacher planner completely changed the way I approached organisation and became my 'home base' of sorts in this busy job.

After experiencing burnout at the end of 2023, the importance of developing sustainable routines and systems really hit home. For me, a teacher planner is one small but valuable tool that helps me feel organised and in control. When it's report time, I'm drowning in marking, I've got back-to-back meetings, and my inbox is exploding, my teacher planner is the one thing keeping me on track.

In starting Base Planners, I wanted to create a product that understood the realities of life in the classroom today, and genuinely supported the incredible people working in our schools. Base Planners are built around the way teachers actually work. They’re practical, purposeful and designed to help you create a system that works for you. I’m so excited to share them with you, and I hope they support you on your teaching journey, wherever that may be.
